CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
******************************** YOGA Gentle Yoga - This class offers a gentle approach which makes it accessible to those who are living with injuries and physical challenges. It can also offer an opportunity for those who enjoy exploring the subtle and deeper aspects of yoga poses, breathing and meditation. Transitions to and from the floor are minimized to help protect joints. Even though the movements may be physically gentle, participants will be encouraged to explore the poses deeply respecting and honoring any injuries or limitations while cultivating an improved sense of body awareness. In this class, movements will be in a chair, standing, and lying down on the floor. ******************************** BELLYDANCE - Please visit www.mandaradance.com for more detailed info about current dance offerings Bellydance Fundamentals - This class is an introduction into the theory, style, and fundamental moves of bellydance. This class is suitable for students who are beginners, those that may have some bellydance or comparable dance experience, or experienced students wishing to refine their understanding of these foundation movements. We will explore fundamental bellydance technique focusing on posture, basic isolations, and traveling moves while weaving them into simple combos and flows. Bellydance Core - This class reviews and refines the foundation moves of Bellydance Fundamentals. Using the basic movements introduced in Bellydance Fundamentals, students will learn how to build on these moves using them in combinations, adding layers and how to dance with others. Classes focus on technique drills, isolations, transitions and combinations from the American Tribal Style (ATS) and Tribal Fusion movement vocabulary. We will also learn about and explore other belly dance and folkloric dance styles that are roots and inspirations to this dance form. Pre-requisite: An understanding of basic belly dance fundamentals is required for this class. ******************************** YOGA/PILATES INSPIRED Be Kind To Your Spine - A yoga and Pilates based class for those wishing to promote optimal back health. We'll work on building core stability, improving posture, and increasing flexibility. Participants will work to develop an increased body awareness and flexible strength which can reduce lower back and shoulder stress, tension, pain and injury. This is a beginning level class which is accessible to those who would like a gentler approach and modifications will be provided for those needing more challenge. ******************************** DANCE for PARKINSON'S
